Biomedical & Health Science

Welcome

The Langley School District (SD35), in partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), offers a full time four course dual credit Biomedical and Health Science program. This KPU Surrey Campus program offers SD35 students an opportunity to attend a semester of post-secondary studies while still in high school. Students earn both high school credits and post-secondary credits.

  • Examine the structure and function of tissues and body systems in a variety of organisms
  • Perform a range of experimental procedures in the laboratory using microscopes
  • Learn about the major organ systems of the human body responsible for support, movement, circulation, respiration and digestion
  • Develop critical reading, analysis, critical thinking, and clear written expression
  • Explore, assess, and respond to arguments and issues from across disciplines and relevant to contemporary cultures
  • Discover psychological processes, such as the biological basis of behaviour, sensation and perception, states of consciousness, learning, memory and intelligence

 

Requirements

  • Be registered and currently attending a school in the Langley School District
  • Be 18 or younger on June 30 of application year
  • Have not graduated from high school before starting the program
  • Have intention to graduate

 

Prerequisites

Have completed before the start of the program

  • Grade 11
  • C+ or higher in English 12
  • B or higher in Biology 11
  • B or higher in Chemistry 11
