Tours and Workshops

  • Free tours run for students roughly once a month to help students to discover industries and education programs that could launch their career
  • Free workshops run for parents to help them become aware of the opportunities available for their children and how they can help them make good choices with regard to their career

Work Experience

  • Students earn up to eight Grade 12 credits for completing paid and/or unpaid Work Experience outside of school
  • The employer can be self-arranged or with assistance of a Work Experience teacher
  • Students learn about workplace safety, job search and interview skills while developing their skills and relationships with professionals in the community
  • District Work Experience (organized through the district [Fire Academy, Fraser Health]) and School Work Experience (arranged at the school level with employers in the community)

Youth TRAIN in Trades

  • Spend a semester or whole school year training in one of seven Youth TRAIN In Trades programs offered in the district (auto service technician, carpentry, electrician, hairstylist, horticulture, plumbing, professional cook)
  • Gain skills necessary to begin an apprenticeship in the chosen trade
  • Free tuition! Paid by the Langley School District!

Youth WORK in Trades

  • Earn high school credits for paid work done as an apprentice in any of the 100+ trades administered by the Industry Training Authority (ITA)
  • Learn while you earn
  • Earn up to 16 elective credits (4 courses) towards high school graduation
  • Seamless transition from school to work
  • May be eligible for a $1000 Award from the ITA

Kwantlen XCEL  

  • Partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Langley Campus
  • Students take university courses while still in high school
  • Upon successful complete of the course, credits count towards Grade 12 elective credits for high school graduation AND first-year elective courses at the college/university level
  • Classes are taken with adults outside the regular student timetable (evenings/weekends/online)
  • Free tuition! Paid by the Langley School District!
